Googlebot is the robot that crawls/spiders millions and millions of pages on the web and indexes them into Google's massive database. Googlebot's key technical functions include finding and requesting pages on the internet, downloading those pages to a server on Google's end, then sending those downloaded pages to an indexer database where Google stores them.
