Meta tags are a special type of HTML tags which include information about a particular web page. Meta tags have no bearing on the styling or design of a web page. Examples of meta tags include the title tag of a page, the description tag of a page and the keywords tag of a page.

The title tag presents the title of a page, similar to the title of a chapter in a book. It should give a short title to the user to convey what the web page is about. Keywords for your SEO campaign can be used here too, but should be used sparingly and should also help to relate to the content on your page. The text that is inserted into the title tag will be presented to the user when the user is viewing search engine results.

The description tag is another important tag which helps to describe the content on a webpage. The description is longer than the title and is a short summary (1 or 2 sentences) which helps the search engines index a page and helps to determine what the page is about. This is another important tag to consider when performing seo to your company website.
