Page views (also grouped with impressions) refers to the number of times a webpage has been viewed on a browser by a human visitor. The amount of page views can be determined by using traffic analytics software such as Google Analytics or Stattracker.

The amount of page views per each visitor can be used to guage the success or failure of a search engine optimization campaign or a pay per click campaign. If the amount of page views are low, that means that your bounce rate is high and your seo or pay per click campaign needs work, or your landing page.

Page views and ad impressions are different. Impressions refers to how many times a pay per click ad is displayed to human visitors for example. Page views will refer to the amount of times a page on a website is displayed to a visitor.

Why It's Important

Page views are important simply because the more times your pages are viewed by human visitors, the more interest they show in your website. And if your visitors are showing interest in your website, it gives you a better chance of generating sales.

Page views are more reliable than website hits (amount of visitors) when it comes to guaging popularity of a website. If your website is receiving several page views per visitor, then it represents that each visitor is interested in the content of your website. If you are developing an SEO or pay per click campaign for your company, then you will need your company website to generate as much interest as possible; as many page views as possible.
