Quality score is a variable for keywords which is used by Google, Yahoo and Microsoft in their respective pay per click tools. Quality scores are assigned to each keyword within your pay per click campaign and it is used to determine cost per click, keyword rank, ad relevancy and other keyword quality factors.

There are several factors which can influence quality score in a positive or negative way. Click through rate can affect quality score because the higher the click through rate is for a particular keyword, the more relevant the keyword is perceived to be. This, in turn, will increase your quality score.

Ad copy relevance will affect quality score because the content in your ad must relate to the particular keywords you are targeting in your ppc campaign. This is especially important for users because users must know what they are clicking on and it should be relevant to their needs.

Landing page quality is another important factor in determining keyword quality score because it also has to do with user relevance. The more relevant your landing page is to your pay per click ads and keywords, the more influence it will have on the quality score in a positive way.

Why It's Important

Quality score is important because it will determine your pay per click ad rank as well as the cost per click for each keyword. The higher you can make your quality score, the lower the cost per click will be and the higher your ad rank will be. With higher ad rankings and lower costs per click, this will make your pay per click campaign successful. In order to successfully increase quality score in a company pay per click campaign, proper ppc management is required.
